A Study on Personality Traits and Entrepreneurship Tendency of Tourism Students

Abstract

In this study, it was aimed to determine whether there is a relationship between the personality traits of tourism students and their entrepreneurial tendency, and whether personality and entrepreneurship tendencies differ according to demographic factors. The population of the research consists of 219 students actively enrolled in the Tourism Management Department and Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department of a state university in the Fall semester of the 2019- 2020 academic year. Data were collected from 150 students in December through the questionnaire technique and these data were analyzed through the SPSS program. As a result of the analyses, research was conducted with the students in order to determine whether there is a relationship between the personality traits of tourism students and their entrepreneurial tendency, and whether personality and entrepreneurial tendency differ according to demographic factors. The most important output obtained as a result of the research is that there is a moderate relationship between the personality traits of the students and their entrepreneurial tendencies. Likewise, when the entrepreneurship tendencies of the students are examined; in the same way, it can be stated that the personality traits of the students are high, so the personalities of the students are settled and their perceptions and attitudes are consistent.
