Abstract

The aim of the study is to determine whether tourist guide candidates' career decisions and attitudes towards the profession differ in terms of demographic variables and to determine the effect of career decisions on their attitudes towards the profession. The questionnaire was administered online. In total, 385 questionnaires were obtained. Mean, standard deviation, ttest, ANOVA, regression and factor analysis techniques were used for the data. According to the findings, while it was determined that the career decisions of tourist guide candidates had significant differences depending on monthly income and class variables, no significant differences were found according to gender and age variables. In addition, while attitudes towards the profession differ significantly depending on the income status variable, they do not differ significantly according to gender, age and class variables. According to another finding, the effect of tourist guide candidates' career decision on their attitudes towards the tourist guiding profession was significant. On the other hand, it was found that conscious career decision has a significant and positive effect on professional attitude. Finally, the other subdimensions of career decision, unconscious career decision and environmental factors, were found to be significant on vocational attitude, but this effect was found to be negative.
