The Relationship Between Local Resident Perceptions of Tourism Impact, Support for Tourism Development and Life Satisfaction: A Case of Mardin

Abstract

The aim of this research is to examine the relationship between the economic, cultural, negative social and environmental effects of tourism, life satisfaction, tourism development perceptions, support of residents in Mardin, through the hypothetical model. A total of 281 data were collected via face-to-face survey and convenient sampling method in July and August 2021. After the measurement model was validated, the hypothetical model of the research was tested through structural equation modeling. According to the findings of the research, significant relationships were found between the local resident perceptions of economic and cultural effects of tourism and their support for the development of tourism. At the end of the research, the findings were discussed, and practical and managerial suggestions were presented.
