A Theoretical Comparison over Dark Tourism and Urban Exploration

Abstract

Dark tourism and urban exploration are seen as two concepts that have begun to attract the attention of academic studies and the media. The aim of the study is to show the mutual relations between dark tourism and urban exploration, and to make a theoretical comparison in terms of similarities and differences and to contribute the introduction of concepts to the Turkish literature. The method of the study is to collect data on the concepts of dark tourism and urban exploration by compiling the majority of foreign sources. In the study, the concepts of dark tourism and urban exploration were handled separately with the help of the literature review and then a theoretical comparison was made over their definitions and examples. As a result, as well as in terms of both concepts have some common features, different points are also determined.
