Abstract

The purpose of this research is to explore the impact of social tourism on individuals with disabilities and their families living in Erdek, and to uncover the opinions of these individuals regarding social tourism. Within the framework of qualitative methodology, the "Case Study" design, which allows for an in-depth analysis of a specific system with defined boundaries, has been chosen. Semi-structured interview technique was utilized to collect the data. The data obtained from interviews conducted with 4 parents of disabled individuals and 3 special education teachers between 04.10.2023 and 07.10.2023 were analyzed using the MAXQDA software through an inductive thematic analysis approach. According to the research findings, families of disabled individuals and their teachers express that social tourism activities are inadequate and that social tourism is a necessity. When examining the impact of social tourism on disabled individuals, concepts such as "happiness," "communication," "healing," "taking action," and "social integration" have emerged. The families and their teachers of disabled individuals have stated that social tourism activities should be organized by both public and private sectors.
