A Research on the Relationship Between Festival Satisfaction and Cultural Interaction: The Case of Silifke International Music and Folklore Festival

Abstract

One of the most important motivations of the festival participants is cultural interaction. The festival satisfaction of the participants is of great importance for the sustainability of the festival by influencing their revisit intention and tendency to recommendation. The aim of the study is to determine the dimensions of cultural interaction perceived by the festival participants and to reveal the relationship between cultural interaction and festival satisfaction. For this purpose, a scale has been developed and applied to the participants of the Silifke International Music and Folklore Festival of 2019. As a result of face-to-face survey application, 449 valid survey data were obtained. The data obtained were analyzed using SPSS program and according to the results of the factor analysis, the cultural interaction perceived by the festival participants was determined as “Cultural Transfer”, “Cultural Conservation”, “Cultural Change” and “Cultural Balance”. The majority of the festival participants are young people under the age of thirty. In addition, as the level of education of the participants increased, their satisfaction levels increased. According to the results of the research, it was determined that the cultural interaction levels of the participants differed in terms of age and education level and there was a positive relationship between the participants' cultural interaction levels and festival satisfaction.
