Geographical indications; These are the official registration symbols that indicate the region where a product is produced, show the basic features of the product, and ensure that these features are preserved and the products are passed on to future generations. It is important that local products have geographical indications in order to highlight the different aspects of products produced in other regions, to determine quality standards and to prevent imitations. Geographical indications symbolize a strong history and culture as well as being unique. In the study, document analysis method was used to obtain data, secondary sources were used, especially the data of the Turkish Patent Institute were examined as the main source. As a result of the study, it was concluded that the majority of the products registered with geographical indication in the Amasya region are food, and that these products are widely produced and consumed by the local people in the region, which is an advantage in terms of the sustainability of the products.
