A Research on Surviving the Heritage of Gastronomy at Local Events: The Case of Çanakkale

Abstract

Within the scope of the research, the importance of keeping the Çanakkale culinary culture alive in the Bozcaada Local Tastes Festival was evaluated. The aim of the research is to examine the views of the local people on the survival of Çanakkale culinary culture at the Bozcaada Local Tastes Festival. The research data were collected by direct interviews with the local people living in the region between 25 November-30 November 2021. The data obtained from the local people were analyzed with the qualitative research method. As a result of the research, the main issues that the local people frequently mentioned; local event is important for the region, the event should be planned strategically, the contribution of the event to the region both touristically and economically is at the forefront, and thus it is realized as an event that draws attention with its advantages rather than its disadvantages. However, considering the opinions about its disadvantages, it has been determined that there are issues such as environmental pollution and misinformation transfer to next generations among the issues to be considered during the festival.
