Determining the Levels of Hospitality Enterprises Being Affected by the Covid-19 Epidemic Process According to Various Variables: The Example of the North Aegean Region

Abstract

In this research, the level of being affected by the Covid 19 epidemic process of accommodation establishments in the North Aegean Region has been tried to be explained according to various variables. The research includes data for the 2020 and 2021 terms. A total of 19 tourism accommodation establishments operating between Edremit - Ayvacık / Kadırga coast was visited and face-to-face interviews were held with officials of different titles. In the research, the socioeconomic effects of the epidemic on the regional accommodation establishments for two periods were tried to be determined by developing hypotheses supported by various research questions. According to the research results; In the pandemic process, it has been concluded that accommodation establishments have taken various measures under the name of pandemic measures, therefore their costs have increased. While the occupancy rates decreased in large and medium-sized enterprises during the pandemic process, it was found that the occupancy rate increased in small-scale accommodation establishments. There was no significant relationship between the operating times of the accommodation establishments and the costs, occupancy rates and number of personnel.
