Students' Expectations from Post-Graduation Professional Life

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the expectations of the students who receive tourism education from business life after graduation. One of the main objectives of this study is to examine the factors around which these expectations develop and the relations of these factors with each other. For this purpose, interviews method, one of the data collections tools, were used in order to obtain in-depth information and in this context, data were collected from a total of 81 students. The data obtained with this study, which was planned as qualitative research, were subjected to content analysis with the MAXQDA qualitative analysis program. In this context, analyzes such as word cloud, code relations scanner, coded section weights, overlapping codes were carried out. As a result of the findings obtained, five factors explaining the expectations after graduation were reached. These factors were determined as career, working environment, education, employer and salary, respectively. In addition, the relations of these expectation factors with each other were also examined.
