A Research on the Development of Alternative Tourism Types in Karasu

Abstract

One of the districts of Sakarya Province, Karasu, attracts the attention of tourists especially in recent years with its natural tourist attractions.The aim of this study; In Karasu, it is to reveal the types of tourism that can be an alternative to sea-sun-sand (mass) tourism and to offer suggestions for their development. In the study, qualitative research method was preferred and interview technique was used in data collection. Within the scope of the research, data were obtained by interviewing senior hotel managers in Karasu in order to have information about the alternative tourism potential of Karasu and the use of this potential. The obtained data were interpreted with descriptive analysis and the alternative tourism potential of the district was examined. Considering the main results of the research, it is understood that Karasu has an important alternative tourism potential such as health tourism, camping-caravan tourism, farm tourism, trekking, hiking, bird watching, diving tourism, mountain tourism, sports tourism, adventure tourism. However, the most important problems in alternative tourism are infrastructure and superstructure, promotion and lack of expert workforce.
